In the past few years, Aramco has been recognized as one of the world's most innovative companies for adopting Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology on a global scale. As part of the World Smart City Awards in Spain, the company's A'amer platform, which revolutionized the management of residential and commercial facilities and services at the company's headquarters in Dhahran, won the Infrastructure & Building Award.
As part of the Smart City Expo World Congress that was held on Wednesday, November 8, in Barcelona, Aramco was awarded for its A'amer project, which is aimed at elevating urban living through integrated citywide services, and the Aramco Community Services team was the recipient of the award.
It is a great honor to be recognized on the world stage for our work in smart city development, which is crucial to meeting the changing needs and expectations of urban communities today and in the future," said Talal Al Marri, Senior Vice President of Community Services at Aramco.. Our mission is to offer not only basic services such as transportation and utilities, but also a wide range of amenities and services that would enhance the quality of life for the people in the community. There is a growing need for the infrastructure of cities to evolve as well in order to reflect an increasingly interconnected, technology-driven, and more sustainable way of living as our understanding of cities evolves

Aramco Senior Vice President for Digital & Information Technology, Nabil Al Nuaim, said: "This award is an important one for us because it recognizes the positive impact we are making through the implementation of innovative digital technologies, such as the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence. As an example of how Aramco harnesses the Fourth Industrial Revolution to positively shape its operations and enhance the lives of its employees, both within and outside the workplace, the A'amer platform is a perfect example of how that is being achieved.
In addition to optimizing building operations, space planning, and asset management across Aramco's Dhahran facilities, A'amer also uses centralized data to predict, detect, and resolve problems across these facilities. Through an accessible, unified interface for public services, it enables predictive, data-driven maintenance and operation of all city services.
It is estimated that the platform will save up to 1.7 billion gallons of water and 20.5 GWh of energy each year, as well as providing substantial sustainability and efficiency benefits. Furthermore, the platform has led to an increase of 31% in process optimization, a 40% increase in step automation, and an increase of over 30% in efficiency.
