MVP Factory – A Ness Company, and VisiTrans were part of the NATO Innovation Challenge "Military Mobility" 2023 and won first place with their pioneering project "Yarded" in conjunction with the Cyber Innovation Hub of the Bundeswehr (CIHBw). In the second and third place, Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte came out on top respectively.
A software application which is developed to significantly increase the operational efficiency of logistics battalions has been selected out of a number of forty submissions to the challenge. The software is developed to significantly increase the operational efficiency of logistics battalions in particular in terms of managing vehicles.

With the help of Agile methods at a start-up speed, MVP Factory, CIHBw, and VisiTrans were able to build Yarded jointly with the soldiers. In order to achieve this high speed, we relied on a dual-purpose product available on the market for Yarded - that is to say, we adapted an existing civilian solution for our military use in order to achieve this high speed". "Jorded, our CIHBw innovation project, is a real turning point for us in terms of innovation as it illustrates the pace of innovation that the Bundeswehr is capable of today," says Sven Weizenegger, Head of the CIHBw.

There was a great deal of interest in the Yarded team presenting the potential of digital solutions in military logistics processes to the Slovenian jury on the 14th of November, and discussions are expected to begin in the coming weeks regarding scaling up to the NATO level.
The logistics battalions in Germany struggle with inefficient analog command and control systems coupled with a lack of personnel, making yarded - an efficient logistics tool for emergencies - one of the solutions. The marshaling area - which is a large area in which objects are stored in ports and railway stations before being shipped to another destination - which is organized by Logistic Battallion 163 RSOM (Reception, Staging, Onward Movement) - was proved to be outdated and inflexible by Logistic Battallion 163 RSOM (Reception, Staging, Onward Movement).. To coordinate the planning of missions in the past, soldiers simply used pen and paper and printed Excel spreadsheets to coordinate the planning of missions in the field.. A further disadvantage of the NATO LOGFAS system is that it does not offer automated and transparent solutions at some critical points of the process

The MVP Factory has already worked closely with the Cyber Innovation Hub in the past on a number of projects in order to foster digitalization in the Bundeswehr. These include an e-token app, an AI workshop, and a lot more.
Founder and CEO of MVP Factory Philipp Petrescu says, "As a result of our collaboration with the Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub and VisiTrans, we have been able to create an efficient, digital system that is effective and efficient." The recognition by NATO is a strong appreciation of our work along with the promotion of innovation in all areas of the economy as well as  the growing adoption of digitalization in government and administration."
The Yarded software automates processes, eliminates manual tasks, and enables a seamless digital overview, so that vehicles and materials are deployed and dispatched more efficiently. It is our partners in Paderborn, VisiTrans GmbH, who are experts in solving logistical problems, that developed the technical part of the solution.
In the event of a sudden deployment, such as a sudden attack by the enemy, the software is designed to work with NATO's core logistics processes to support the transport of equipment and material by the NRF (NATO Response Force).. Yarded is able to effectively manage 500 vehicles as well as 2500 materials on a daily basis, in such circumstances.LOGFAS data is also incorporated into the software for data-driven decision-making.. Since NATO material has to be moved from one place to another every day, LOGFAS is the information backbone of NATO.. A Yarded device is able to coordinate in real-time and distribute information digitally through any device, allowing the commander to make decisions based on real-time data, enabling a faster decision making process based on real-time data.As a result of these efforts, the NATO Innovation Challenge was launched in 2017 by the NATO Innovation Hub of Allied Command Transformation as a conceptual platform for addressing Alliance-wide challenges and setting priorities between the various partners involved. A brief history of the Cyber Innovation Hub of the Bundeswehr The Cyber Innovation Hub of the Bundeswehr (CIHBw) was founded in March 2017 to support the digital transformation of the Bundeswehr as a fast speedboat, and to act as an interface between the Bundeswehr and the startup ecosystem.. As part of the vision of "Empowering Innovation in Defence", the Federal Ministry of Defence (BMVg) has designed a number of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of soldiers and civilian employees.. A total of over 160 innovation projects have been implemented so far, and the CIHBw sees itself as a "do tank" and an agile innovation driver within the armed forces industry. Founded in 2014, it is the first military digital innovation unit in Europe and serves as a model for comparable units in other German federal ministries and authorities to follow.
