NAG Launches Virtual Supercomputer Managed Service, Redefining HPC Accessibility and Simplicity for Industrial Users

40 0
Today, NAG, one of the most successful companies in the world of algorithms and supercomputing services, announced the launch of its Virtual Supercomputer Managed Service (VSMS). This innovative new service provides industrial clients across all sectors with a unique combination of cutting-edge technology and subject matter expertise, to de-risk and simplify HPC access for industrial clients. This innovative new service is backed by NAG's long track record providing world-class managed HPC services.
The NAG Group has been managing wholesale HPC operations for industrial clients for over a decade, and has more recently provided extensive cloud migration services for industrial workloads. While there is a growing need for HPC simulation, these experiences have revealed that clients increasingly face difficulties and challenges due to a lack of expertise, an increase in infrastructure complexity, and unpredictability of workloads as a result of lack of expertise. Project overruns, staffing shortages, spiralling costs, and reduced scientific output are all consequences of these challenges

With NAG VSMS, the client is released from having to meet complex computational requirements, and instead is provided with a service level agreement (SLA) that satisfies those requirements. There is a powerful platform that powers the provisioning, management, and maintenance of the service. There is, however, a user-friendly and customisable web interface that is used by clients to interact with the system. This web interface automates the execution of jobs and workflows, the provisioning and maintenance of clusters, as well as the management of costs.. At the same time, NAG experts will customise, tune, and maintain on-demand clusters from Google Cloud Platform (GCP) on behalf of their clients, ensuring that scalability and efficiency are maintained while keeping costs to a minimum.

In the past few years, we have been seeing the same messages from industrial users of HPC, said Adrian Tate, CEO of NAG, "their scientists and engineers are doing less scientists and engineers work and more managing their computing environments.. As a result, we end up with inefficient results, increased project risk, increased costs, and, ultimately, lower outputs as a result. With VSMS, we are putting the burden of HPC back in the hands of HPC experts, who will design and provision scalable clusters tailored to the needs of our clients in a manner that is the easiest to access.. There will be a higher scientific output with lower overall costs and a lower risk to the client
