There were twelve forums held during MedaWeek Barcelona 2023 during which leaders of these institutions, entrepreneurs from various sectors, and international experts discussed and offered solutions to the current challenges facing the Mediterranean for the two days. There are many challenges to be faced in this region, including climate change, digital connectivity in the countries of the region, female entrepreneurship, sustainable transition, and business opportunities in sectors like Islamic finance, health, and tourism.
A total of 12 forums were held during MedaWeek Barcelona 2023, during which leaders of these institutions, as well as entrepreneurs from various sectors and international experts, discussed and provided solutions for current Mediterranean challenges over the course of two days. There are many challenges faced by this region, such as climate change, digital connectivity, female entrepreneurship, sustainable transition, and business opportunities in sectors such as Islamic finance, health, and tourism.

ASCAME's New Agreements to Enhance the Competitiveness of the Mediterranean
ASCAME has announced several initiatives that will have a lasting impact on the region's prosperity and sustainable development during MedaWeek Barcelona 2023. The first step is to establish a regional council on climate change in the Mediterranean, which is intended to stimulate private sector participation and collaboration in this collective battle that encompasses the entire region, in addition to fostering government and civil society involvement.
Furthermore, ASCAME takes a significant step forward in its efforts to address the digital gap that exists among Mediterranean businesses as well. The MedaWeek Barcelona 2023 sessions pointed out that increased digital connectivity among Mediterranean countries would lead to the increase of female entrepreneurship, an improvement in employment rates in developing countries, as well as facilitate the necessary transition to a more sustainable future, which should include the incorporation of green technologies across all sectors of the economy.. In one of these sessions, for instance, Digital Realty, the largest provider of cloud and data center services that are carrier neutral, presented its proposal for the creation of a digital interconnection through submarine cables between all Mediterranean countries.. The Association of Economic Leaders for Africa, Europe, and the Middle East has announced that the Summit will be held in Egypt in May 2024, which will bring together all three continents to share a common message. It will be a new opportunity to discuss and find common solutions to challenges such as the impact of the geopolitical context on the Mediterranean economy, the latest technological trends transforming industries and sectors, and the new globally projected corridors which will make the Mediterranean a key hub in the global economy.
It is noteworthy that ASCAME has made public its agreement with the General Council of Islamic Banks worldwide that it will work together to promote climate financing initiatives and the promotion of sustainable development projects in the region as a way to promote climate financing.
