Electreon (TASE: ELWS), a global leader in wireless electric vehicle charging, has announced a collaboration with its Swedish partner, REARQ, a company that specializes in sustainable electrification and logistics. Together, they will deliver a groundbreaking wireless charging initiative to BDX Företagen AB, a prominent road and freight distribution company that works for Ahlsell AB in Sweden.
It is being developed to integrate Electreon's cutting-edge wireless charging technology on a commercial van that will be used in the loading dock top-up and overnight depot charging use cases with REARQ's conversion of an Iveco Daily van to electric propulsion, and use Electreon's cutting-edge wireless charging technology on the van.. By extending the service life of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, reducing the environmental impact of transitioning to electric vehicles, and lowering the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for logistics fleet operators, this innovative project will demonstrate the partners' capabilities to meet the operational needs of logistics fleets.
The project is designed to incorporate Electreon's cutting-edge wireless charging technology powering a commercial van for both port top-ups and depot overnight charging, in conjunction with REARQ's conversion of a diesel Iveco Daily van to electric propulsion system, based on Electreon's cutting-edge wireless charging technology. During this innovative project, the partners will demonstrate their capability to meet the operational needs of logistics fleets by extending the life of Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) vehicles, reducing the environmental impact of the transition to electric vehicles, and reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for logistics fleet operators.

The project is anticipated to begin operations in Spring 2024 for a period of 24 months, beginning with the first day of operation. It is planned for BDX Företagen AB, a company that carries goods for Ahlsell Sverige AB, a leading distributor in the Nordic region, to use the retrofitted electric light truck as it charges seamlessly while it is loaded with goods at the loading docks, and while it is parked overnight at the logistics center in southwest Stockholm.. "With this project, Electreon introduces its technology to a new segment in the market that could benefit from it.". Soon, a BDX Företagen AB vehicle will benefit from seamless top-up wireless charging, eliminating the need for the driver to intervene when the vehicle backs into a loading dock at the distribution center, as the charging will begin automatically as soon as the vehicle is parked. This will increase the efficiency of the vehicle operations, as well as creating a clean and clutter-free environment for the drivers and the people working at the distribution center as a result of this.As Maher Kasskawo, the Business Development Manager for Electreon in the Nordics, stated:
As Maher Kasskawo, the Business Development Manager for Electreon in the Nordics, stated:
As a result of the heavy ice and snow cover in Stockholm in winter, temperatures can plummet to -20 degrees in the city. As a result of this project, we will be able to demonstrate the robustness and durability of Electreon's wireless charging technology for electric vehicles in these harsh climate conditions. Powered by a minimal 35 kWh battery pack, the retrofitted electric light truck will be able to run a full daily schedule for the whole day. The vehicle will be used to deliver morning deliveries, driving approximately 50 kilometers, then the driver will return to the distribution center to reload the vehicle and recharge, then the vehicle will be used to deliver afternoon deliveries.. The BDX Företagen AB is proactively working to reduce its environmental impact and this project is an example of the steps that we are taking to reduce our impact on the environment. The team is looking forward to experiencing how the retrofitted vehicle drives and charges with this new technology, and to seeing how this project can help us meet our goals of cost reduction and zero impact on the environment..In response to this statement, Jimmy Glarén, Manager of the Stockholm Business Area at BDX Företagen AB, said as follows:
In response to this statement, Jimmy Glarén, Manager of the Stockholm Business Area at BDX Företagen AB, said as follows:
Founded in 1986, Ahlsell is a Nordic market leader in trade and solutions where logistics play an important role. The Ahlsell AB vision is to create a more sustainable society, and we are excited to be a part of this project, which will enable us to explore new technologies together in order to promote the transition as well as meet the needs of future customers, said Jonas Lovenhill, Ahlsell AB's Transport Manager.
By converting used vehicles into 100% electric vehicles and seamlessly integrating them with smart wireless charging technology, this joint collaboration proves that we can accelerate the transition to sustainable electric logistics solutions by reducing costs for fleet owners and operators and contributing to the circular economy at the same time..", Henrik Wallström, the CEO of REARQ, said in a statement.. As part of the project, the partners hope that this site will serve as a demonstration site for prospective logistics fleet clients as well as a variety of Nordic partners; which will demonstrate that a zero-emission electric delivery fleet can be achieved by combining top-up wireless electric charging with converting ICE vehicles with minimal battery power.
