A series of short films has been selected by MedTech Europe to examine innovations in medical technology that are helping to shape the future of healthcare and guide a path towards a healthier future for the global population through this series of short films. Among the twenty films that make up the series, Ascensia's mini-documentary style video highlights Troy's journey due to diabetes, and how the evolution of continuous glucose monitoring technology (CGM) has enabled him to live a more full, less interrupted life since being diagnosed with diabetes. It illustrates, in particular, the transformation that Eversense, the only long-term continuous glucose monitoring system available today, can bring to people with diabetes, as seen through the eyes of Troy and his endocrinologist, Dr.. According to Dr. Rakesh Patel, in the film series, we used a regular glucometer when Troy first came in to be treated, before moving onto a continuous glucose monitoring system for a short period of time. He had some grievances with the short-term sensors – mainly because they tend to fall off regularly and there is the burden of replacing them every 10 to 14 days."
During the film, Troy said, "I was constantly on the road for my job, so managing my diabetes has become a juggling act. When the long-term continuous glucose monitor was introduced, it was a game changer for me because I was constantly on the road.".
It is a great pleasure for us to offer people with diabetes the benefits of long-term CGM systems, and we are always humbled by the impact it has on people's lives," said Elaine Anderson, vice president of global CGM and commercial operations for Ascensia Diabetes Care. In our opinion, there is a lot to be excited about in the world of medical technology right now, and we would like to thank MedTech Europe for bringing so many interesting perspectives to the forefront of this film series.
