Advancing Collaboration and Coordination in Digital Construction: LeapThought Partners with WSU to Investigate Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD)

42 0
In a move set to create a transformative change in construction project delivery in the US, LeapThought, a leader in intelligent construction management software for the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO) sector, has announced today that it has forged a strategic partnership with the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture at Washington State University (WSU) as well as the Built Environment Application Laboratory (BETA).. LeapThought has partnered with LeapThought to explore the potential of Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) as a method for large-scale construction in the US using LeapThought's powerful FulcrumHQ platform for collaboration

Analyzing the potential of IDD in the delivery of projects
IDD uses digital technologies to integrate work processes and connect stakeholders working on the same project throughout the whole construction and building life cycle by integrating work processes. As a result of this partnership, IDD will be able to greatly improve the efficiency and outcomes of construction project delivery by leveraging its vast potential. As part of the collaboration, WSU's BETA Lab will engage prospective AECO partners and introduce them to the potential of IDD to improve project outcomes in collaboration with LeapThought.
IDD implementation strategies will be strengthened with insights drawn from real-life operations in order to strengthen their effectiveness. As part of the project execution process, LeapThought will also provide training and support services so that the FulcrumHQ construction collaboration platform will be adapted and utilized optimally.
As part of this initiative, LeapThought and WSU will gather data to generate future strategies for enhancing both the FulcrumHQ platform and IDD deployment in the North American market. This research will be documented and shared with the wider sector to encourage wider sector engagement with IDD.
Modernizing the delivery of construction projects in the contemporary era
The collaboration between LeapThought and WSU shows that LeapThought is committed to fostering innovation in the industry of AECO. Preetham Garikipati, LeapThought's Executive Director of Academic Partnerships, said, "By integrating FulcrumHQ with the FulcrumHQ platform, we anticipate unlocking the potential of Integrated Digital Delivery in the US and Canada, transforming contemporary construction project delivery,". It is our intention to work with WSU students and faculty to drive progress in the domain of built environment technology based on our experience engaging with leading programs for the built environment—including co-developing an IDD curriculum in collaboration with the globally renowned Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore.

A research effort is being led by Hongtao Dang, an assistant professor in WSU's School of Design and Construction, in collaboration with undergraduate and graduate students.. A long history of research has been conducted on project delivery, but its adoption has been quite slow. To solve the workforce shortage and digital integration challenges, we need to work collaboratively and efficiently, utilizing advanced tools and cutting-edge technologies to achieve Integrated Digital Delivery.. It is expected that this partnership will contribute to the identification of effective IDD practices and benefits through case studies and inform future workforce development and transformative practices in the AECO sector," said Dang.
