The development site for Blue Line Aviation receives approval for rezoning.

The Smithfield Town Council granted permission to Blue Line Aviation, a well-known pioneer in career pilot training, to rezone a plot of property next to Johnston Regional Airport.

Blue Line bought the property in October 2021 and started working right away to change the zoning so that the site could be developed.
Blue Line finished building a brand-new, sizable headquarters and training facility at the neighbouring Johnston Regional Airport in 2021. Blue Line shifted all of its operations away from Raleigh and invested heavily in Johnston County.
Blue Line wanted to increase its area and create a full-fledged professional pilot training “campus” including facilities for flight training, simulator training, office space, a cafeteria, aircraft maintenance, parking, and on-site student housing. Additionally, the zoning clearance permits future development of the property to incorporate more office space and a hotel.
