In an effort to promote its peony and grapes industries, the city of Heze in the Shandong province of east China arranged an exchange conference in Colombo, Paraná State, Brazil.
According to Zhou Shenghong, head of the Heze Municipal Publicity Department, through a video conference held during the conference, the event was designed to give the cities of Heze and Colombo a platform for reciprocal contact and collaboration.
He expressed optimism that future opportunities for cooperation between the two parties in the fields of agriculture, culture, and tourism may be explored.
Heze has a long history of cultivating these flowers and has been dubbed “the peony capital of China.” According to Li Shumei, head of the Mudan district’s Advertising Department, during a video conference held during the conference, the city’s Mudan district is the largest base in the world for peonies-related production, scientific research, exports, and sightseeing.
Li asserts that Mudan district has been working hard to promote its peonies industry in recent years and has created more than 260 different types of deeply processed peony goods, including tea, essential oil, and fragrance.
Helder Lazarotto, the mayor of Colombo, stated: “Heze not only has lovely peonies, but has also developed several peonies goods.” He mentioned at the conference that he would like to travel to Heze in the future to fully appreciate the local culture.
80% of the nation’s new types are being grown in Heze. More than two million peony seedlings were exported from the city, making up over 90% of the national total.
