Peter Thiel, co-founder and chairman of Palantir Technologies, the leading big data company in the world, met with HD Hyundai CEO Chung Ki-sun to discuss new business development and the company’s overall business goal.
On October 30, Hyundai Heavy Industry Group (HHI Group) disclosed that CEO Chung and Palantir Chairman Thiel had a conversation at the Yeouido Fairmont Hotel Seoul during the Chairman’s visit to Korea. They discussed present bilateral cooperation in business growth as well as an anticipated joint venture (JV) between Palantir and HHI Group.
The status of the digital transformation (DX) in the HHI Group’s business segments of shipbuilding, energy, and construction equipment was discussed by CEO Chung and Chairman Thiel.
To introduce Palantir’s corporate big data platform “Foundry” to all of its affiliates in the shipbuilding industry, HHI Group signed the main contract in September. The company intended to use the platform to lay the groundwork for a shipyard with autonomous operation that is currently being developed.
