For the cultural class “What is future arts,” Henry Chang, CEO of Wemade, presented a special lecture on “The Metaverse and Games” at the KAIST Art Museum.
On November 9, he addressed 130 KAIST students, employees, and candidates in the Auditorium of the Academic Cultural Complex, KAIST. The definition of the metaverse and its ultimate goal were discussed in the lecture.
Identity, joy, and economy, according to Chang, are the three fundamental components of the metaverse. The ecosystem “must offer fun, and economic actions and rewards should be tied to the actual world,” he said. “One’s identities in real life and the metaverse must exist.”
He claimed that “Game is a natural fit for the metaverse, as well as for blockchain technology.” The actual metaverse with a mega-ecosystem can then be experienced. “Games used to exist individually, like islands, but blockchain can connect them to form an inter-game economy.
After the talk, Chang and Prof. Jinjoon Lee, the director of the KAIST Art Museum, engaged in an open discussion about a variety of topics, including the advantages and disadvantages of technological advancements.
