Nicole Cash, 20, of Farmington, Minnesota, is the recipient of the 2023 4-H Youth in Action Award for STEM from the National 4-H Council.

After leading her robotics team in the development of a customised Power Wheels ride-on car for a toddler who was unable to walk, Cash has been nominated for a national award for her leadership in using STEM talents to improve people’s lives. Cash was so moved by this that she teamed up with her high school’s robotics club to help found a GoBabyGo! chapter at her school, where students design and construct child-friendly vehicles and share their designs online.

The 4-H Youth in Action Awards were established in 2010 with support from HughesNet to honour 4-Hers who have used their 4-H training to make a positive difference in their communities and in their own lives.

Cash, as a national winner, will have an amazing year sharing her 4H journey to inspire other young people and recognise her leadership. In addition to being named the official STEM student spokesperson for 4H, she will receive a $5,000 college scholarship and the chance to have her story shared on a national scale and put her in touch with notable 4-H alumni and HughesNet executives.
