In order to improve understanding of the issues facing international road safety and promote safer mobility all around the world, Autoliv announced its support for the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF). The third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), which aims to guarantee everyone has access to decent health and well-being, is directly supported by Autoliv’s mission of saving more lives. One of the SDG’s targets is to reduce the number of people killed and injured in traffic accidents worldwide.
“Being a part of the UNRSF Advisory Board and its crucial work is an honour for Autoliv. We are confident that Autoliv’s experience in protective safety, along with the engagement with UNRSF and its extensive partnerships across all sectors, may help hasten the improvement of road safety in low- and middle-income nations. Together, we mix participation with knowledge and experience, “said Autoliv President and CEO Mikael Bratt.
“I’m glad to welcome Autoliv to the UNRSF Advisory Board. Throughout the 2022–2024 term, I’m looking forward to working with Autoliv and exploring how its expertise and experience may benefit the Fund’s efforts to increase the world’s level of road safety. The UNRSF’s global relationship is built on cross-sectoral cooperation “Nneka Henry, director of the UNRSF Secretariat, remarked.
Road traffic accidents are the biggest cause of death for children and young people, taking 1.35 million lives each year. More than 90% of fatal automobile accidents happen in poorer nations. Autoliv and UNRSF partners will actively support the Global Plan for the Second Decade of Action 2021-2030, which aims to save at least 50% of traffic-related deaths and injuries by 2030, by exchanging ideas, expertise, and data.
