Partnering with Chestnut, Maryland d/b/a A data security breach occurred at the Towson, Maryland-based senior living facility Blakehurst (“Blakehurst”), which may have implicated personal and protected health information of some of its current and former staff members as well as clients. Potentially impacted persons have received information about this occurrence from Blakehurst, along with tools to help them.

Blakehurst discovered strange behaviour in its email system on or about February 7, 2022. As a result, Blakehurst took action right away to secure its digital environment and hired a reputable cybersecurity company to help with an investigation to ascertain what transpired and whether sensitive data might have been impacted. This investigation found evidence of possible unauthorised access to some employee email accounts. After Blakehurst hired a vendor to do a thorough analysis of the potentially impacted data, it was discovered on August 4, 2022 that some personal and protected health information might have been involved in this event. Blakehurst diligently sought to find contact information after the data analysis was finished so that potential affected parties may be notified. On September 20, 2022, this procedure came to an end. Names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s licence and/or state identification numbers, financial account numbers with account access information, medical information, and/or health insurance information may have all been affected by the incident, though the specific data that was affected varies depending on the individual.
