As NASA ends another astronomical year, 2022 will go down in history as a memorable one.

NASA successfully tested new technologies, including an inflatable heat shield for Mars, and launched its mega Moon rocket for the first time, sending its unmanned Orion spacecraft around the Moon. It also began a new era in astronomy with the Webb Space Telescope’s record-breaking new imagery from the cosmos, moved an asteroid in the first-ever planetary defence demonstration, sent astronauts on routine missions to the International Space Station, and sent astronauts on regular missions to the International Space Station.

“There is no denying that 2022 was extraordinary! A record-breaking year for all of NASA’s missions, 2022 will be remembered for the history-making splashdown of the Artemis I mission, the groundbreaking images from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, the innovative LOFTID technology demonstration, the resounding success of the DART mission, incredible advancements in our aeronautics programmes, and the expansion of partnerships with commercial and international partners “Bill Nelson, NASA’s administrator, said. “There is a lot to anticipate in 2023 as well, including more amazing discoveries made by the Webb telescope, climate missions that will provide more information about how our planet is changing, ongoing research on the International Space Station, ground-breaking aeronautics advancements with the X-59 and X-57 experimental aircraft, the choice of the first astronauts to travel to the Moon in more than 50 years, and more. NASA’s achievements in space demonstrate how far humanity can advance!”
