Zhou Wei, Founding and Managing Partner of CCV, stated on a crucial panel at the 35th AVCJ Private Equity & Venture Forum recently held in Singapore that Chinese entrepreneurs are prepared to go international.
“The previous three years have been spectacular for us,” Zhou stressed that despite the market’s instability, he still had faith in organisations with strong roots. These businesses have a strong foundation and a definite leadership position.
He added that two firms went public in Hong Kong and New York in 2022, and that five companies in the investment portfolio of the CCV team registered for initial public offerings in 2021.
In KPCB China, where he worked as a managing partner and oversaw the technology investment, Zhou made an investment in Arrail Dental (HKSE:6639). Perfect Corp, a pioneer in AI beauty, is another listed business he cited. The initial institutional investor in Perfect at this early stage is CCV.
He claimed that businesses could withstand the ups and downs of the market as long as they produced genuine value and rose to the top of their respective industries.
Regarding the external changes, he advised investors to focus on fundamentals rather than get distracted by noise.
