A number of high-tech businesses in the domains of 5G, big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence have signed up to participate in the current 18th China(Shenzhen) International Industries Fair, which included successes of the digitization strategy for cultural industry.
In the following five years, China is expected to promote the modernization of its industrial chain and the upgrading of its industrial base, according to the 14th Five-Year Plan for Cultural Development, which was published in 2022.
In truth, China’s cultural economy has benefited greatly from digitalization, and the use of digital technology has helped to rejuvenate a significant amount of cultural materials.
For instance, the Dunhuang caves’ cultural artefacts are being digitalized by Chinese internet giant Tencent and Dunhuang Academy. According to Liu Xiaolan, the project manager at Tencent, digital technology will bring cultural artefacts from Dunhuang online so that people can experience the enchantment of ancient culture in virtual caverns.
Virtual reality (VR) technology is also becoming more and more important in the digitalization of the cultural sector. Tourists may now enjoy immersive real scene navigation and virtual and real fusion navigation at Hangzhou West Lake thanks to SenseTime, an artificial intelligence unicorn startup. To access the AR navigation guide mode, visitors only need to scan the real scene with their smartphones.
