As travel restrictions to Japan are lifted, Trip.com data shows a significant increase in bookings and significant search volume for the country.
Bookings from South Korea to Japan jumped by a whopping 194% over those made in August. Bookings from the UK, Spain, and Germany all saw increases of 183%, 169%, and 103%.
Since May of this year, Trip.com has experienced continuously strong search volumes to Japan from Europe, Asia, and the US, with noticeable peaks at key locations in September 2022.
Singapore experienced a 520% rise in search volume to Japan month over month in September, which was the largest increase.
Then came an increase in searches of 463% from Thailand, 365% from Australia, and 359% from South Korea, respectively.
Even the Philippines, which experienced the smallest surge, saw a 91% increase in searches, which is still encouraging.
Trip.com will keep an eye on this pattern in the upcoming months as the economy of Japan continues to improve, with both searches and reservations for travel to the country surging.
