This morning, Artifact Labs, a web3 startup that aims to “Preserve and Connect History” on the blockchain, announced a collaboration with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) to premiere The Metaverse Symphony, a new composition by acclaimed film composer Elliot Leung.
With Artifact Labs as their official partner, Elliot Leung and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil), one of the world’s best, will compose the first symphonic masterpiece to have its world premiere in both a traditional concert hall and the metaverse.
The performance will take place in May of 2023 in Hong Kong, and The Sandbox will launch The Metaverse Symphony as a fully immersive Web3 experience at the same time. Artifact Labs, in collaboration with The Sandbox, a metaverse platform, is constructing a digital version of Hong Kong’s Statue Square that can be used for a variety of purposes, including the exhibition of the boundless potential of music in a digital environment.
The Battle at Lake Changjin, the second highest-grossing picture globally in 2021, features music composed by Elliot Leung, a musician of distinction. For all his success and contributions to the film industry, Leung was also included on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list for 2022.
Artifact Labs’ founder and CEO Gary Liu had this to say about the collaboration: “We are excited to be teaming with HK Phil and Elliot on this history-making concert. Our hope is that by providing participants with this opportunity, we will introduce more people to the possibilities of the metaverse and the near-infinite innovation that Web3 enables.
