To further service its expanding Southside membership, BayPort Credit Union has opened a new branch in Portsmouth. Shannon Glover, the mayor of Portsmouth, and Lisa Lucas-Burke, the vice mayor, presided over a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of BayPort's celebration of its grand opening.

The new office is situated in the Midtown Marketplace at 1241 Frederick Boulevard. The brand-new branch has a drive-thru with interactive teller machines from BayPort called YourTeller®, allowing customers to do complicated financial transactions whenever they want, from the comfort of their cars.

When BayPort bought the Portsmouth Schools Federal Credit Union and welcomed its members to BayPort in December 2021, the branch's initial address was 455 Dinwiddie Street.

The credit union is pleased to serve 4,600 members in Portsmouth and the neighbourhoods around Norfolk, and later this year, it aims to add its 29th branch and fifth location in Virginia Beach.

The expansion of the Portsmouth membership is a priority for BayPort. It is similarly proud of the more than 60 schools in Hampton Roads that participate in its student-run credit union programme, three of which are in Portsmouth: Churchland High School, Churchland Elementary School, and Hodges Manor Elementary School.
