The American sports betting and online gaming company BetMGM revealed today that it has discovered that some of its customers’ records were taken illegally. Some customers’ personal data, including name, contact information (including postal address, email address, and phone number), date of birth, hashed Social Security number, account identifiers (including player ID and screen name), and information pertaining to transactions with BetMGM, were impacted by the problem. Each customer’s information was different.

After becoming aware of the situation, BetMGM immediately began an investigation. To ascertain the nature and extent of the problem, BetMGM has been consulting with top security authorities. The issue was brought to the attention of the corporation on November 28, 2022, and it is thought to have arisen in May 2022. As of right now, BetMGM has no proof that customer account money or credentials were accessed in conjunction with this problem. The security of BetMGM’s online activities was unharmed. In order to further strengthen its security, BetMGM is working with law enforcement and taking action.
