There has been an agreement between Caverion and the construction company YIT for Caverion to provide building solutions and technical systems for Technopolis' new campus building in Otaniemi, Espoo, which will be used by the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. The building is expected to be completed in 2021.
It should be noted that the new research building is the third phase of the Innopoli 4 campus. YIT Finland is responsible for the construction of the research building, which will cover a gross area of approximately 7,900 square metres.
In addition to the building solutions and the building automation, Caverion will also implement special technologies such as refrigeration systems for the cold rooms and special technologies such as gas, hydraulics, research electricity, and fume hood automation as part of their implementation.
In recent years, we have implemented a number of projects in good and smooth cooperation with Caverion, including schools and offices. The Technopolis project we are currently constructing is a good example of our cooperation in the future. I would like to note that the operating models developed in previous projects will provide an excellent basis for delivering a technically challenging research building," says Matti Sarikkola, Vice President, Business Construction Service at YIT.
We are delighted to be able to work together on this versatile and technically challenging project with YIT. As a result of our experience in large-scale projects, I believe that we will be able to provide future building users with comfortable and functional facilities," Ville Tamminen, Head of Caverion Finland and Baltics division, comments.
Solutions for the campus that are energy-efficient
This building will consist of eight floors and a lower research wing. The building will include laboratory space and ancillary functions, as well as a number of special research facilities.
