Delta Southern Railroad, Inc. (DSRR), a short line railroad firm running two line segments in Louisiana, was acquired by Patriot Rail Company LLC today, the company said.

The transaction’s financial details weren’t made public.
Two Mississippi River-based port facilities, Madison Parish Port and Lake Providence Port, are served by DSRR’s roughly 40 miles of track operation. Union Pacific and Kansas City Southern exchange passengers and freight with DSRR. With a customer base that includes many large-scale chemical plants as well as shippers from the forest industry, DSRR is strategically located in a strong chemical and petrochemicals corridor. Louisiana Highway 20 and the Kansas City Southern “Meridian Speedway” are where DSRR’s lines are situated.
The deal was made after Patriot Rail’s acquisition of Pioneer Lines was completed on September 14, 2022. Following the completion of the transaction with DSRR, Patriot Rail will expand its short line operations to include 32 railroads, strengthening its support for rail customers all over the United States. Together with the Patriot-owned Louisiana and North West Railroad (LNW), which has its main office in Homer, Louisiana, and runs a rail line from Gibsland, Louisiana, to McNeil, Arkansas, DSRR will strengthen Patriot’s presence in Louisiana.
