Global Container Terminals Inc.’s GCT Bayonne and New York terminals will be acquired by the CMA CGM Group, a major participant in sea, land, air, and logistics solutions (GCT).
Two significant East Coast terminals in one of the largest economic regions in the world
The Port of New York and New Jersey serves as a major entrance point for the Northeastern U.S. supply chain areas and is the primary gateway for CMA CGM on the East and Gulf Coasts of the United States. The Bayonne and New York terminals, which currently have a combined capacity of 2 million TEUs annually, have the capacity to practically quadruple.
In contrast to Bayonne Terminal, which has the highest level of automation, the quickest truck turn time in the harbour, the closest ocean access, and the capacity to service vessels up to 18,000 TEUs, New York Terminal enjoys the advantages of a highly productive labour force in the Port of New York and New Jersey and connects the dense New York hinterland with direct trucking and intermodal access.
