On Sunday, China lifted several COVID-19 limitations on international passenger flights, with increased domestic and overseas travel anticipated as the Spring Festival vacation draws near.
According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, steps will be taken to ensure that outbound travel for Chinese people will resume in a controlled way and that freight at various ports will quickly revert to pre-epidemic levels.
The resumed acceptance and approval of Chinese citizens’ applications for regular passports for travel and visiting friends overseas is one of the optimum policies and initiatives.
According to a statement from the State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, China also simplified the rules for travel between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao. According to the paper, limits on the passenger load factor for flights between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao would be eliminated, and international travellers will be permitted to enter the mainland through Hong Kong and Macao.
China had roughly 52.7 million domestic tourist visits over the preceding three-day New Year vacation, gaining 0.44 percent year over year, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Monday.
According to the government, tourism earnings for the holiday season hit 26.5 billion yuan (about $3.8 billion), an increase of 4% from the same time previous year.
