During the 11th Mastercard LAC Innovation Forum, The Belle BlockTM was introduced to Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). A community called The Belle BlockTM was established in June 2022 with the goal of educating and empowering women and non-binary individuals to take advantage of Web3 technology and cryptocurrencies. This regional expansion is a result of a collaboration with WAGMI LatAm, an education programme that aims to sign up 5 million Latina women for Web3 by 2030.
Mastercard is a firm believer in the potential of technology to create a better future for all. The core objectives of this new organisation are to address business development, education, leadership, advocacy for laws and regulations, and entrepreneurship.
To better grasp the power of blockchain in the current crypto environment, it is necessary to look ahead, inform, and give more people the choice to investigate and engage in the crypto ecosystem. Although investing, purchasing, trading, and opening portfolios are common cryptocurrency uses for both men and women, 77% of Latin American women who are familiar with cryptocurrencies say that they would use them more if they understood them better*.
“Digital assets have the potential to revolutionise how we invest, pay, and receive compensation. According to Janet Rivera-Hernández, Vice President of Communications for Mastercard Latin America and the Caribbean, “We want to ensure that we bring more women and underserved people to the Web3 and cryptocurrency table so they can actively participate in the leadership of the future of payments.”
