Earlier today, Huawei began its annual flagship event, HUAWEI CONNECT 2023, in Paris. The event brought together thousands of guests, including industry leaders, technical experts, and partners from around the globe to discuss how the EU's green transition can be accelerated through the use of digital and intelligent technology.
As Ken Hu, Huawei's Rotating Chairman, stated in his opening remarks, "Europe is making incredible progress in digital transformation, and you are leading the global transition towards a greener future," he pointed out to the assembled guests.. As we look to the future, Huawei has been working side-by-side with our European customers and partners for over 20 years now.. There has been great progress made in connecting people, empowering businesses, and building Europe's digital ecosystem over the last few years. As we move forward, we will continue to strengthen our support for digital transformation, local innovation, sustainability, and cyber security in Europe as well."

According to Jim Lu, Huawei's Senior Vice President and President of the European Region, the twin transition in Europe is a combination of four pillars: connectivity of everything, intelligent cloud, "bits manage watts" and open cooperation. It is our intention to continue to contribute to Europe's green and digital transition, and to work together with partners to provide better products and solutions. As a company, Huawei is ready and willing to work with partners to develop better products and solutions for customers.
Connecting everything and making sure that all decisions are based on data
It is imperative that everything is connected to high-speed networks as a part of digital transformation. This is especially true in industrial settings, where high-performance networks are used to transmit, analyze, and compute massive amounts of data in real-time. For a variety of different industrial scenarios, Huawei provides network solutions that are resilient, intelligent, and lossless, supporting ultra-broadband connections.
For example, Huawei worked with partners to help build Hungary's East-West Gate (EWG) Intermodal Terminal into the first 5-G-powered logistics terminal in Europe. It is possible to fully automate and remotely control overhead cranes for smart railway logistics with the help of 5G, which provides ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-low latency, and high reliability. In addition to being safer and more efficient, the terminal has better working conditions and runs 20% more efficiently now.
In an age where everything is connected, Cloud computing is the powerhouse behind algorithms and massive computing power needed to help industries become smarter. In order to create new value for customers and partners in Europe, Huawei Cloud will continue to invest in Europe," Lu said. Huawei Cloud is among the fastest growing major cloud service providers in the world with cloud nodes in both Ireland and Turkey.
Helping Europe advance its green initiatives by managing watts with bits
"Europe is a global leader in the transition toward clean, green energy," Lu stated. In order for us to improve energy production and promote the digitalization of energy systems, we have been integrating digital and power electronics technologies for years now. A total of 228 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity have been generated by Huawei in Europe to date, reducing carbon emissions by 102 million tons and creating tens of thousands of high-value jobs at the same time."
With Europe in mind, for Europe: We are a reliable partner in the green and digital transition in Europe
According to Lu, " Europe is one of Huawei's most important strategic regions in terms of its global operations, as it is a key market for Huawei. In Europe, Huawei will continue to remain customer-centric, create value for our customers and partners, enhance innovative collaboration with our partners, cultivate local digital and green talent, and continue to increase our investment in R&D.. It is our pleasure to contribute to the acceleration of Europe's green and digital transition by playing our part.Towards the end of the speech, Lu called for the creation of an open, fair, and inclusive environment for innovation, which is crucial to social development."
