The annual GROUNDBREAKERS thought leadership forum, featuring leaders in international business, energy, logistics, and supply chain transformation, was held today at The Shed in New York’s Hudson Yards by Prologis, Inc. (NYSE: PLD), the world leader in logistics real estate.

Hamid R. Moghadam, co-founder and CEO of Prologis, and Dave Clark, co-CEO of Flexport and former CEO of Amazon Consumer Worldwide, spoke with anchor Susie Gharib and senior special correspondent Fortune to start the day. The three discussed the present economic climate and looked at the once-in-a-generation potential to build a customer-centric, open, and high-performing global supply chain.

Clark offered advice on running a business successfully in the face of difficult economic headwinds: “In order to come out the other side prepared to participate in whatever the new world will be, you really need to concentrate on the thing that is most important to the customer and most important for future growth. That represents a sizable technology investment for us over the following year or two.”

Beyond the economy, discussions centred on the supply chain’s contribution to the future of the world’s environment. Prologis is one of many businesses and nations that have pledged to taking action on climate change over the next three decades with the goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
