NewPhotonics Ltd. and Intel Corporation are excited to announce a milestone achievement: the successful integration of Intel's new 224 Gbps electrical SerDes design with NewPhotonics' cutting-edge Photonics Engine has resulted in a direct modulation electrical-to-optical link utilizing PAM4 modulation that is end-to-end.
Over a standard single-mode fiber, this remarkable achievement is able to extend a range of over 10 kilometers with exceptional pre-FEC performance, without the need for a Digital Signal Processing (DSP), which eliminates delays in DSP processing, costs, and sets a new standard for affordable, high-speed, low-latency data transmission.
Highlights of the report include:
As a company, we are delighted to have successfully integrated our photonics technology with Intel's most advanced 224Gbps SerDes, which are the most advanced in the world." Yaniv Ben Haim, CEO and Founder of NewPhotonics, said, "The end-to-end electrical-to-optical link at exceptional performance is the key innovation for products with the lowest power consumption, virtually no processing delay, and cost-effective advanced photonics-based products."
Intel Vice President Noam Avni added, "The advanced SerDes designs and the NewPhotonics optical engine demonstrate the power of pushing the boundaries of technology with our advanced SerDes designs." Having the capability to establish an end-to-end electrical-to-optical link over a distance of 10 kilometers at 224Gbps direct modulation is a testimony to our commitment to innovation and the advancement of high-speed data transmission methods."
In the ECOC conference in Glasgow (2-4 October 2023), this groundbreaking demonstration was showcased. At the private demo at the NewPhotonics booth, attendees witnessed the capabilities of this end-to-end electrical-to-optical link, which promises to revolutionize the way data is transmitted in data centers.
