Intellian, a leading provider of feature-rich, future-proof satellite communications solutions, and Viasat Inc., a global communications company, have announced a contract award for Intellian to design and supply a bespoke range of Ka-band user terminals exclusively for Viasat’s Maritime connectivity solution.

Intellian will create a 100cm upgrade kit for its best-selling NX Series terminals in addition to the custom-built new terminals. This conversion kit will provide hundreds of vessels the option to connect to Viasat services, and the NX Series is the premier VSAT maritime antenna in the world.

Intellian’s cutting-edge satellite terminal technology and knowledge of integrating modems in geostationary satellite orbit (GEO) are used in the development of two new types of customised user terminals, measuring 60 cm and 100 cm in size. Intellian’s dedication to its customers, combined with their numerous firsts in their fields, has helped them swiftly earn a name for engineering brilliance.

Access to Viasat’s satellite network, including the future ViaSat-3 constellation, will be more stable than ever with the company’s expanded lineup of products. With the first of three ViaSat-3 satellites set for launch in the first quarter of 2023, the company anticipates the satellites will be in operation by the end of the year to serve the maritime market.
