In light of the Orion spacecraft’s successful splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, Jacobs (NYSE:J) congratulates NASA on the accomplishment of the 25.5-day Artemis I mission to orbit the moon.
The unmanned test flight of Orion, propelled by the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, travelled more than any spacecraft capable of carrying people safely: 1.4 million miles around the moon.
Jacobs has helped NASA on this historic journey from the beginning to the end, including as a member of the crew that pulled Orion out of the water. The first test flight for the Artemis deep space human exploration programme, which seeks to land the first woman and the first person of colour on the moon and pave the way for a sustained human presence in deep space, is Artemis I.
“The Artemis I mission from NASA has surpassed expectations. This historic mission has cleared the way for a new age of scientific discovery and human exploration of deep space with Orion’s successful journey and safe return to Earth “Steve Arnette, EVP and President of Critical Mission Solutions at Jacobs, remarked. “Jacobs teams across several NASA centres, contracts and programmes are committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions and technology in support of NASA’s mission to promote science and inspire future space exploration through future Artemis missions,” the NASA statement reads.
