Jacobs to Manage Sustainable Transport Program for Ireland’s National Transport Authority
It has been announced by Jacobs (NYSE:J) that it has been selected by the National Transport Authority (NTA) of Ireland as consultant for the BusConnects Cork Sustainable Transport Corridors project, which aims to improve connectivity and enhance mobility in Cork, Ireland's second largest city.Jacobs' scope of work includes preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Network and Information Security for each of the schemes' statutory planning advice services; the construction strategy; and the transportation assessment, which incorporates extensive modeling for the development of the design. As part of the overall BusConnects Cork program, Jacobs will also assist with the preparation of the preliminary business case. In addition, Jacobs was appointed to act as one of the Engineering Design Consultants for the project, providing advice and assistance and preparing the preliminary design report and the planning permission application that will be submitted to Ireland's independent statutory body, An Bord Pleanála, for approval.By providing better walking, cycling, and bus infrastructure for 11 key access corridors in the Cork region, BusConnects Cork is transforming the public transport network, enabling efficient, safe, and sustainable mobility throughout the city and preparing the city for the future by transforming the public transport network.
