During the course of their remote monitoring of respiratory patients at Essen University Hospital (UME), the hospital will be using the leading digital health platform Luscii. As part of the "Smart Hospital" strategy of Essen University Hospital, the Department of Infectiology, led by Prof. Dr. med. Oliver Witzke, will collaborate with the Department. As part of a pilot program, patients will be able to receive home care, which will lead to higher patient satisfaction.
As part of a feasibility analysis, the medical staff of the clinic will use Luscii's software as a Medical Device (SaMD) to monitor participating patients with pneumonia as part of the pilot project. The purpose of this innovative remote monitoring system is to be scientifically evaluated by UME over a period of twelve months during which other diseases will be monitored as well if the evaluation proves successful.
As part of a feasibility analysis, the medical staff of the clinic will monitor patients with pneumonia during the pilot project using Luscii's software as a Medical Device (SaMD). During the 12-month pilot phase of this innovative remote monitoring system for healthcare, UME will conduct a scientific evaluation of the system. If the evaluation is successful, then it will be used to monitor other diseases as well.
An examination of the fundamental benefits of telemonitoring in patient care is being done in order to determine if telemonitoring can have a significant impact on patient care. As a result of the digital extension of care, patients will be able to return home more quickly. Visits to the clinic outpatient department as well as unnecessary visits to emergency rooms are also expected to decrease.
In the pilot project, participating patients are given the Luscii app to input data into a structured treatment path for pneumonia through the Luscii app. The data includes symptoms, vital signs, and specific questionnaires. The medical staff monitors patients using the clinical engine of the Luscii platform, allowing targeted support and interaction with patients.
This marks an important step forward for Luscii in its entry into the German market. "Essen University Hospital sees digitization as a unique opportunity to shape the hospital of the future - with a clear focus on the human beings themselves as patients and employees. This is a perfect example of how Luscii provides ideal support for this," adds Prof.. The Dr.. The medical field. Jochen A. Schaefer. Dr Werner, Medical Director, and CEO of Essen University Hospital, discusses the collaboration between the two hospitals. Prof. Dr.. The Dr.. The medical field. As Oliver Witzke says, "Pneumonias continue to pose a significant threat to the health of the general public". In the field of infectious diseases, the emergence of remote monitoring instruments provides a promising opportunity for optimizing the care of patients

For Luscii, the collaboration with UME represents a crucial milestone for entering the German market. "Luscii has proven itself to clinicians and patients for more than a decade in everyday care," he comments. "We are confident that we can now demonstrate the great benefits of Luscii here in Germany," said Prof. Prof. Dr. Daan Dohmen, Founder of Luscii and specialist in Digital Transformation in Healthcare."
The Luscii platform is a home monitoring platform that hospitals, general practitioners, and the general public can use. With the intuitive Luscii Home Measurement app, patients are able to take an active role in their own care and health, as well as stay in close touch with their healthcare team through a remote monitoring system. As a result of the intelligent algorithms that process all of the data collected in the home, patients are empowered to self-manage or inform their healthcare provider within their own records in an innovative way.
