It has been announced that Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL), its insurance unit, has hired Isaac Meek as a cyber underwriter. Meek's arrival exemplifies Markel's long-term commitment to recruiting high-level underwriting talent, in order to continue to provide insurance solutions to meet the needs of customers throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), while simultaneously supporting the company's overarching strategy of accelerating growth across Asia.
In his new role, Meek will work closely with Priyesh Pradhan, Professional and Financial Risk (PFR) Senior Underwriter at Markel India, to drive the growth of Markel's cyber offering in the Middle East and Asia Pacific (APAC), as well as in MENA. Alongside those duties, Meek will be responsible for cultivating broker relationships and identifying opportunities for further scalability within the MENA region.
Priyesh Pradhan, Professional and Financial Risk (PFR) Senior Underwriter at Markel India, will be working closely with Meek in his new role to drive Markel's cyber offering across MENA and the wider Asia-Pacific region. Additionally to these responsibilities, Meek will be responsible for fostering broker relationships and identifying areas where further scalability can be achieved within MENA as well.
With Markel Dubai's cyber insurance offering, we provide comprehensive first-party and third-party coverage for a wide range of industries and clients, including financial institutions, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, professional service firms, and industrial companies, as well as the line sizes up to USD $10 million. The insured will have access to the organization's 24/7 crisis management hotline, global service providers, as well as cyber security specialist support when taking out this policy.
Previously, Meek worked for the American Insurance Group (AIG), where he started as an Assistant Underwriter, and then was promoted to Underwriter by the end of the year 2021.. While working for AIG for five years, he was tasked with underwriting risks across a wide range of financial lines, including professional indemnity (PI), directors and officers (D&O), with a focus on blended cyber and technical PI risks for customers based in the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

It is expected that Meek will be based in Markel's Dubai office, reporting directly to Max Robbie, Markel's Senior Executive Officer in Dubai.
