Omaha-based startup Workshop raises $12M to streamline internal email and communications
It has been announced today that Workshop, a company that provides internal communication platforms, has raised $12 million in Series A funding. The round was led by McCarthy Capital as part of their Emerging Growth strategy. It included support from a group of prominent Midwest venture funds, including Ludlow Ventures and M25, in addition to McCarthy Capital. It is important to note that this additional round of investment follows a seed round of $5 million that was completed in July 2022, only 18 months ago. It has been a great year for Workshop as it has become one of the fastest-growing internal communication platforms, gaining hundreds of customers and delivering emails to well over a million employees over the last year. At present, it is the tool of choice for employee-facing emails at Fortune 500 companies and name-brand organizations worldwide, including Papa John's, Steve Madden, Edelman Financial, Northern Tool, Movement Mortgage, and many more. In order to help its customers connect and engage with their employees better, Workshop is committed to being the leading internal communications platform. The Workshop was founded in 2020 by Rick Knudtson (former co-founder of Flywheel), Ben Stevinson, and Derek Homann (former founders of Median).. The group has come together with a shared vision of helping other organizations to create a positive, engaging company culture through great internal communication in order to help them achieve their goals. As a result of the latest round of investment, Workshop continues to play an increasingly important role among distributed and global teams, which often struggle to create alignment and deliver engaging, relevant content to their employees. The two of us share a passion and a clear vision for what our product can do for this market. As we pursue our mission to make more happy Mondays for employees everywhere, I am excited to invest further in Workshop's platform and team. This funding will be used to accelerate Workshop's ability to innovate its easy-to-use internal email solution, recruit additional talent for the engineering team, scale Workshop's go-to-market efforts, which will include expanding sales and marketing, as well as strengthening the customer success team to provide greater support to customers."Workshop is gearing up for an incredible year, and we're excited to add even more talent to our team in Omaha and beyond," said Derek Homann, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Workshop. "We believe in our mission to create happy Mondays for our own team, too, and we can't wait to make 2024 a year of growth, innovation, and shared success!"Additionally, Workshop has announced the launch of its new communications calendar feature, which is part of a suite of workflow-enhancing tools that have been designed to help internal communication teams better manage their emails at a larger scale. This new calendar view allows communicators to see every email that has been sent and every email that has been scheduled in one convenient location, ensuring their messages have the best chance of being read by the recipient. With features such as sharing and privacy settings, dynamic distribution lists, and AI-assisted content recommendations, it's easy to see how Workshop can help businesses manage internal emails across distributed teams and organizations around the globe.
