The Sant Llorenç del Munt I l’Obac Natural Park in the province of Barcelona has been chosen by Huawei and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) for a new Tech4Nature project to look at how tourism is hurting the park’s environment, notably the Bonelli’s eagle.
Since the pandemic, the park has seen a notable increase in visitors, which reflects a growing trend of leisure time and tourism in nearby natural and protected regions. As a result, the Bonelli’s eagle, which breeds in the park and is classified as critically endangered in Spain’s Red Book of Birds, has shown alterations in its behavioural habits.
