The director of the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative and co-founder of the neuroscience wearables business Cogwear, Michael L. Platt, will join the advisory board of GlassView, the largest independent video advertising distribution platform in the world, it was revealed today.
Platt will contribute his expertise to GlassView’s continued efforts to create relationships between brands and consumers at the most profound levels. Platt has led considerable study about the biological mechanisms that underlie decision-making and their implications to business.
Platt completed a post-doctoral programme in neurology at NYU after earning his B.A. at Yale and his Ph.D. in anthropology at Penn. The National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense are only two organisations that have supported his study. Platt served as the founding Co-Director of the Duke Center for Neuroeconomic Studies as well as the former Director of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences and the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke. He previously served on the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Brain Science and is currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Boards of various businesses, the Yang-Tan Autism Centers at MIT and Harvard, and several other institutions.
According to James Brooks, CEO and Founder of GlassView, “While marketing and consumer motivation have traditionally been relegated to the softer sciences like sociology and psychology, Professor Platt’s renowned work in neuroscience and neuromarketing gives us ways to understand why people do what they do from a biological and even molecular level.” “We are thrilled that Professor Platt will be joining our board and assisting us in developing special offers for our clientele. He already has experience dealing with Fortune 100 companies and the Department of Defense, which provides an invaluable degree of credibility.”
