Graphene-powered batteries from Nanotech Energy have been spectacularly proven to be non-flammable in a new abuse test, which is astonishing and unusual.
A 4.5BRA bullet travelling at 2,917 feet per second shot a Nanotech Graphene-Powered Lithium-Ion Battery 18650 cell. The battery survived the violent collision without catching fire and even maintained a charge.
In a bullet abuse test, commercial 18650 Li-Ion batteries were pitted against Nanotech Energy’s graphene-powered 18650 batteries.
Dr. Richard Kaner (Chair of Scientific Advisory Board), Dr. Jack Kavanaugh (CEO), and Dr. Maher El Lady are the founders of Nanotech Energy (CTO).
In comparison, a competing commercial battery 18650 cell fired at a speed of 2,915 feet per second by a 4.5BRA bullet instantly caught fire and lost its ability to hold a charge.
The CEO and chairman of Nanotech Energy, Inc., Dr. Jack Kavanaugh, stated: “Battery safety has received more attention lately than ever before. There have been numerous fires started by conventional lithium-ion batteries, including the most recent one at a high-rise residential building in New York City. The future of energy includes major battery technology, but as our reliance on it increases as a community, safety must be prioritised above all else. We are leading the way in safe battery solutions for this very reason.
