Today, Friday, October 14, marks the first time the public may visit Batter Sea Power Station and take in the first of its upscale shops, bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues—nearly 40 years after the lights were turned off.
Today also marks the opening of Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrian path connecting the Battersea Roof Gardens and Prospect Place buildings by Foster + Partners and Gehry Partners with the Zone 1 tube station in the riverside neighbourhood.
The Battersea Project Holding Company’s Chairman, Dato’ Jagan Sabapathy, stated: “The opening of Battersea Power Station marks the culmination of ten years of hard labour and dedication. The reopening of this structure, which is so significant to Londoners and the rest of the world, demonstrates what Malaysians can accomplish when they collaborate with partners from around the globe to create innovative initiatives.
