A global leader in applied safety science, UL Solutions, announced today that its UL Procyon® Artificial Intelligence (AI) Inference Benchmark for Windows was demonstrated at the Snapdragon Summit in 2023 to demonstrate the high performance of the Snapdragon® X Elite Platform when it comes to AI inference.
Inference engines are comprised of hardware and software that is used to make decisions based on rules and information stored in a knowledge base. The performance of an inference engine can vary depending on the device and other factors that it is used with.

As part of the UL Procyon AI Inference Benchmark for Windows, multiple inference engines from different vendors are compared, allowing users to evaluate the machine learning inference performance of Windows operating system devices using common machine vision models. By analyzing inference performance and comparing devices for AI use cases, technology companies are able to gain valuable insights.

UL Procyon AI Inference Benchmark for Windows uses standard machine vision workloads that include image classification, image segmentation, object detection, and super-resolution in order to evaluate the AI workload. In order to compare hardware performance, a variety of neural networks are used to execute these tasks, which are then run on the device's central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), or dedicated AI accelerators.
