The operations of its hosting partner have received improvements, according to Bit Digital, Inc. (Nasdaq: BTBT), a New York-based corporation that mines digital assets.
Bit Digital received a notification (the “Notice”) from the City of Niagara Falls, New York, dated October 4, 2022. One of the Company’s hosting partners, Blockfusion USA Inc., was the subject of the Notice, and the facility in question was located in Niagara Falls, New York (“Blockfusion”). The Notice commands Blockfusion to comply with Section 1303.2.8 of the City of Niagara Falls Zoning Ordinance (the “Ordinance”) in addition to all other City rules and codes before engaging in any cryptocurrency mining or associated activities at the site. This facility’s power had been returned in September after the previously mentioned explosion and fire in May 2022.
After a corresponding moratorium expired on September 30, 2022, Blockfusion informed the Company that the Ordinance actually went into effect on October 1, 2022. Blockfusion has also stated that it is preparing applications for new permissions based on the revised standards of the Ordinance and that the processing of the permits could take several months. The management of Bit Digital is still keeping an eye on the situation.
