To discuss Ohio’s involvement in NASA’s plans to explore the Moon and Mars, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy, and U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown will go to the agency’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
At 2:30 p.m. EST, Nelson, Melroy, and Brown will be accessible to the media at Glenn’s Simulated Lunar Operations (SLOPE) Lab, a building intended to simulate lunar and planetary surface operations.
Following the Q&A session, media are welcome to accompany the authorities on a tour of SLOPE and hear from Glenn engineers who create and test the tools and procedures required for rovers to investigate the Moon and Mars’s surface.
Nearly $301 million of the $2.4 billion NASA provided to the state’s economy in 2021 came from the agency’s Moon to Mars mission activities. NASA The success of such efforts depends on Glenn’s top-notch test facilities and unmatched knowledge of power, propulsion, and communications.
