As a global leader in software for early detection and prevention of cancer, Volpara Health Technologies Ltd. (ASX: VHT) will present its latest software advancements at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), taking place from November 26-29, 2023 (South Hall, Booth #2780).
As part of Volpara's enhancements to its software portfolio, the company has embraced the meeting's theme of "Leading Through Change"."  The company's Risk Pathways® solution helps providers shed the one-size fits all approach to cancer screening by using their existing EHRs, such as Epic®, along with their existing mammography workflows, such as Volpara's Patient HubTM, to assess the probability a patient may develop multiple forms of cancer at the same time.. There is now a comprehensive cancer risk assessment software that uses the opportunity of mammograms and wellness appointments to personalize cancer care. Using Volpara's AnalyticsTM software, we are automating more of the EQUIP reporting and ACR accreditation compliance tasks, which is useful for saving time, reducing audit stress, and eliminating the stacks of binders that have long plagued mammography departments..  As a result of the software's advanced artificial intelligence algorithm for positioning, compression, radiation dose, and breast density assessment, high-quality mammograms can be delivered across locations, new technologist training can be sped up, and recalls and retakes are minimized.

Teri Thomas, CEO of Volpara, says that healthcare's future is automated, optimized, and personalized. "Clinical demands are on the rise, personalized medicine has arrived, and staffs are shrinking as a result." As demonstrated at the RSNA, Volpara's AI-powered solutions are capable of automating manual, time-consuming and subjective tasks, making it easier for providers and patients to succeed in this new era."
In addition to being the leader in artificial intelligence, Volpara is the vendor of choice for leading healthcare institutions. In addition to being Microsoft's Healthcare and Lifesciences Partner of the Year, Volpara recently achieved the milestone of decoding and analyzing more than 100 million mammography and tomosynthesis images.
Volpara will be presenting several studies from its research partners and users at the RSNA conference:
The impact of artificial intelligence software on the rate of repeat and recall of customers
A study from the Department of Radiology, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, "Impact of Artificial Intelligence-driven Quality Improvement Software on Mammography Technical Repeat and Recall Rates" has been published by the RSNA in Radiology: Artificial Intelligence ahead of the conference. A significant improvement in quality scores was observed as well as an increase in the proportion of images that met target compression pressure by using Volpara® AnalyticsTM.
The results of this study demonstrate that artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionize something that has traditionally been very manual by providing continuous feedback on the quality of mammography images to technologists in an unprecedented way." said Dr. Eby, lead author of the study.
Breast MRI outcomes in high-risk screening programs: a review of the literature
The Elizabeth Wende Breast Center will be reporting on the outcomes of five years of high-risk screenings with supplemental MRI and genetic testing for breast cancer. A scientific poster on Volpara Risk Pathways and Volpara density assessment software proves that implementing risk assessment in a large community-based program can result in better outcomes.
Dr. Stamatia Destounis, the author of the study, noted, "Through our research, we found that among the women who received genetic testing, risk assessment evaluation, and MRIs, the breast cancers were smaller and the burden of the tumor was a lot less among the women who received genetic testing and risk assessment evaluation.".
In order to provide individualized training to technologists, we have experience with AI
We will present two prospective studies from Kettering Health that demonstrate the impact of personalized training informed by AI image quality assessment on mammography quality and technologist satisfaction after undergoing personalized training informed by AI image quality assessment.
According to the study titled "Objective improvements in mammography image quality after individualized breast positioning training informed by artificial intelligence," a 4-percent increase in overall mammography quality was found after technologists were given a one-day hands-on positioning training session by Mammography Educators that was tailor-made to meet objective performance measures provided by Volpara Analytics.
A second study, "Technologist experience implementing a mammographic image quality improvement program using automated artificial intelligence-based software," assessed satisfaction levels of technologists using Volpara Analytics, and found that 87% of them were satisfied or very satisfied, with their experience. Moreover, 87% of respondents said that they frequently implemented changes that improved ergonomics, and more than 45% of respondents said that they were more confident when communicating with patients because of the use of Volpara Analytics.
